How to export extracted data to Excel using Extraction 1

Last updated on 29 Mar, 2026

You can export your extracted data to an Excel workbook (.XLSX) at any time. For an overview of all available export options, see What does Extraction 1 data look like when exported?

Sheet per section (Excel)

The sheet per section Excel export organizes your data across multiple sheets, making it easier to read, interpret, and analyze.

Your export will include the following sheets:

  • Study details - Identification data, method data and overall population data (except baseline population characteristics)

  • Intervention details - Baseline population characteristics and intervention details

  • Outcome details - Description of outcomes (except results data)

  • Dichotomous results - Result data for dichotomous outcomes

  • Continuous results - Result data for continuous outcomes

  • Qualitative results - Result data for qualitative outcomes

Why this helps:

  • Easier to read: Related data is grouped together, reducing empty cells

  • Clearer structure: Each sheet focuses on a specific part of your extraction

  • Ready for analysis: Consistent, machine-readable column headers support import into statistical software

Steps to export

  1. Go to the Export page, which is accessible from your review's summary page.

  2. Under Extractionmake sure Data extraction is selected.

  1. Choose the data you want to export:

  • All extracted data includes all reviewer and consensus data, including in-progress forms (which may contain unblinded data). This is useful for tracking progress, comparing responses, or working with single-reviewer workflows.

  • Consensus only includes data from completed consensus forms, providing a streamlined, analysis-ready export while maintaining blinding. This option will only show when you have consensus data.
